Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Vortex Browser app. By using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. The app

Vortex Browser is an open-source browser for iPhone and iPad. It provides web browsing, content blocking, reader tools, a share extension and optional AI-assisted features. Features may change, be unavailable or stop working with particular websites or third-party services.

2. Open-source license

The Vortex Browser source code is made available under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and distribute that code subject to the license, including its copyright and permission notice. Third-party libraries, models, filter lists and services may have separate licenses and terms.

3. Acceptable and lawful use

You are responsible for how you use Vortex and for complying with applicable law and the terms of websites and services you access. You must not use the app to:

4. Websites and third-party services

Vortex displays and interacts with websites and services that are not controlled by the developer. The developer does not endorse, control or assume responsibility for their availability, content, security, transactions or privacy practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.

Content blocking, reader mode, autofill and compatibility tools may not work on every website and may affect how a site behaves. You are responsible for reviewing information before submitting forms, signing in or completing a transaction.

5. Saved credentials and device security

If you choose to save website credentials, Vortex stores them in Apple Keychain and requires device-owner authentication before access. You remain responsible for protecting your device, passcode, accounts and backups. Do not share an unlocked device with someone you do not trust.

6. AI features

AI-generated summaries and answers can be incomplete, inaccurate or misleading. They are provided for convenience and must not be treated as professional, medical, legal, financial or safety advice. Verify important information with the original source or a qualified professional.

When you select an external AI provider, Shortcut or Mac gateway, you authorize Vortex to send the prompt and selected page context needed for that request. Your use of the selected provider is subject to its own terms and policies.

7. Optional Mac gateway

The local gateway is an optional developer tool that you run and control. Keep its token secret, use it only on trusted networks and do not expose it to the public internet. You are responsible for the Mac, network, models, tools and services you connect to it.

8. No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Vortex is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. The developer does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with every website or suitable for a particular purpose. Rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, credentials, profits, access or business arising from use of or inability to use Vortex. This limitation does not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Changes and availability

The app or these terms may be updated, suspended or discontinued. Continued use after revised terms are published means you accept the revised terms. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.

11. Contact

For questions or support, open an issue in the Vortex Browser GitHub repository. GitHub issues are public, so do not post passwords, tokens or other sensitive data.
